THE OPPORTUNITY
Associate, Commercial Strategy (AI Data Centre)
- Drive the key AI Data Centre division for this company.
- Travel to the US several times a year.
- Have direct dialogue with hyperscalers to drive business success.
Our client is a large artificial intelligence focused data centre infrastructure business with assets and teams across north America and APAC. They specialise in creating sustainable, energy-efficient infrastructure to support the growing demand for AI high powered compute (“HPC”). Hosting/co-location is a key growth initiative and they are hiring a role to cover all parts of driving the success of this division.
Key Responsibilities -
- Assisting to set the co-location strategy with the senior leadership team.
- Deal Structuring & Execution: Collaborate with senior leadership to structure, negotiate, and execute complex HPC AI data centre deals, including multi-million dollar CAPEX projects for hyperscalers.
- Customer Engagement: Work directly with global hyperscalers to understand their needs, propose solutions, and drive projects from initial engagement to execution.
- Financial Modelling & Analysis: Develop and analyse financial models, pricing strategies, debt/equity funding and ROI targets for CAPEX-heavy projects to support business objectives.
- Project Coordination: Manage cross functional teams to ensure timely delivery of projects, including working closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams on technical specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Market Opportunity: Assist in identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities within the rapidly expanding HPC and AI infrastructure market.
- Travel & Networking: Be a key staff member in networking into and driving discussions with hyperscalers, and travel mostly to the US (circa 6 times a year) for various client meetings and conferences.
- End-to-End Deal Management: Support all stages of the deal lifecycle, from initial customer discussions, MOUs, environmental and load studies, to full project delivery.
- Strategic Support: Provide commercial insights and recommendations to senior leadership on how to optimise the growth of the HPC business unit.
Qualifications -
- 3-6 years of experience in investment banking/corporate finance, MBB management consultants or similar, Infrastructure Funds, Renewables investing roles - ideally with infrastructure, renewables, power & utilities or data centres exposure.
- Strong deal execution, and analytical skills.
- Experience in CAPEX-heavy industries is highly advantageous.
