We are currently working with a ~$15Bn client in the PE/VC space on a mid-senior ESG Hire.

The Senior Manager, ESG will play a critical role in contributing to the development and understanding of the risks associated with ESG issues within investment decisions, with the ultimate aim of improving outcomes for our stakeholders. Working alongside the Investment team and others, the candidate will perform professional evaluation and analysis, identifying potential ESG investment risks and mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate across the business to integrate ESG considerations into the investment process.
• Undertake in-depth analyses of proponent companies' ESG practices and identify potential risks and associated mitigants.
• Refine frameworks and methodologies to ensure ESG considerations are integrated into investment decision-making processes.
• Assess ESG indicators and their evolution to predict the impact they will have on proponent companies' performance.
• Examine ESG risk and opportunities for relevant sectors aligned with our client's priority areas.
• Provide governance advice and practices to leadership.
• Manage third-party due diligence reviews as required.
• Engage with external stakeholders, including portfolio companies, industry experts, and ESG data providers, to stay informed about emerging issues and best practices, and provide insights internally.
• Stay abreast of regulatory developments and evolving industry standards related to ESG risk assessments in investments.
• Monitor and report upon the ESG performance of portfolio investment companies and communicate the impact of sustainable investments to stakeholders.
• Provide internal ESG expertise when required.

Key Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or above in related field and/or >7 years directly relevant experience
• Deep understanding of ESG implementation, risk assessment and requirements
• Understanding of investments and the broader finance sector
• Excellent verbal, written & presentation skills
